Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): The Third Chakra

Solar Plexus Chakra: Energy of the Sun

The third chakra, often referred to as the solar plexus or Manipura chakra, is located in the stomach area where the ribs meet the belly. In other words, it is about two inches above the navel, and deep within. This chakra is located a little more to the back, against the spine, with the celiac nerve at its center. The planet associated with it is Mars.

Like the other chakras, the solar plexus is back against the spine, closer to the central nervous system than to the front of the body. In fact, the centers of the each of the chakras are all located close to the central nervous system because here is more concentration of consciousness.

Its qualities are that of creating order, of liking things to be a certain way. Therefore, the energy here likes to structure in an administrative fashion. This energy resonates with structures that are similar in the creation—to all of the administrative structures in the Universe.

The solar plexus chakra is responsible for the digestive organs: liver, gall bladder, spleen, stomach, kidneys, and pancreas. All of those organs will function more healthily and productively when the solar plexus is functioning healthfully. For this reason, energy healing can be very beneficial when someone suffers from digestive disorders.
